This dumb bitch webuildinsonnets seriously pissed me off… you’re an ass… you see that picture? yeah, see that insulin pump? did you see the #diabetes but after it… came #yolo because even though it isn’t the most healthy thing to be eating and will raise his blood sugar he’s going to eat it……

You know what’s the best way to get through to people? Cuss like a sailor and use juvenile insults. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised; this girl is only 16 years old. Someday she will understand that free speech isn’t free, and yes, she can do what she wants knowing someone with diabetes, but that doesn’t make it okay. What a brat.

Sometimes being civil isn’t possible for people, and this is what we as diabetics have to deal with everyday. Sure, you know someone with diabetes! That doesn’t mean your pictures and comments aren’t hurtful to the diabetic community. One day she’ll grow up, but the rest of us can keep on educating the ignorant.

How is tagging a picture of an insulin pump hurtful? How is saying “yes I have this horrible disease but I am going to live my life the way I want” an insult to diabetics? I even asked my boyfriend if that picture was insulting… He said no. Trust me, it irritates me when people post pictures with sugary/ unhealthy food and tag diabetes because I know what it is, and I know how horrible it is to have to deal with diabetes every day. And I appreciate the fact that you’re trying to tell people what they say can hurt people especially if they have no idea what they are talking about… But I tagged an insulting pump with diabetes… That’s like tagging a picture of my dogs face with “puppy”.

Hey, maybe I totally missed the point of your picture, and that would be my bad. But your reaction was totally uncalled for. This is the internet, but we’re not anonymous here. There are real people behind these posts, and the way you interact with and react to people represents who you are. So if I was wrong, please let me know in a civil, respectful way (ie the same way I approached you in the first place).

I said I sincerely apologize…. If you read the response I sent…. But anyway have a nice day:)

This dumb bitch webuildinsonnets seriously pissed me off… you’re an ass… you see that picture? yeah, see that insulin pump? did you see the #diabetes but after it… came #yolo because even though it isn’t the most healthy thing to be eating and will raise his blood sugar he’s going to eat it… how can this picture be offensive to diabetics? the person in the picture is diabetic and saying yolo I’m gonna eat this regardless of the disease I have… so bitch don’t fucking tell me to “think twice before using the diabetes tag” BITCH I FUCKING KNOW WHAT DIABETES IS THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

webuildinsonnets asked:

Hi Lexi! Although posting pictures of giant delicious food and beverages is awesome, tagging those pictures with "diabetes" is not. Diabetes (both types 1 and 2) is not caused by eating a lot of bad/sugary food. It's an autoimmune disease. It's also quite hurtful to the diabetic community when you tag those images with diabetes because we can, in fact, eat/drink those things because there's no causal relationship. So please think twice before using the diabetes tag again. Thanks!

Did you not notice the insulin pump in the back of the picture? My boyfriend is a type one diabetic and he’s the one who tagged the picture… But uh thanks… I know what diabetes is… I help my boyfriend and support him the best I possibly can… I’m sorry but congratulations… you have pissed me off… look at a picture better next time you decide to comment on it :)
